About Schema Markup Generator
Structured data tells a search engine what a page *is* rather than leaving it to be inferred from the prose: this is an article with an author and a date, this is a product with a price and a stock status, these are the questions this page answers. It is what rich results are built from.
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends, and it goes in a script tag in the head — nothing about the visible page changes. Six types cover most of what people need: Article, Product, FAQ page, breadcrumbs, Organization and LocalBusiness.
The generator writes valid JSON-LD and names the properties each type actually requires, because a missing price or image is the difference between a rich result and an ordinary one. It cannot check the page itself, so run the output through Google's Rich Results Test before relying on it.
One rule matters more than the markup: everything in the structured data must be visible on the page. Marking up questions a visitor cannot see is a policy violation, and manual actions for it are real.
The score is the same one the rest of the category uses, built from the properties Google treats as required for the type you picked — a missing one costs, and a price with a currency symbol in it costs more.
Where it helps
- Six of the types that actually produce rich results, rather than a list of everything schema.org defines.
- Names the properties each type requires, so a missing one is caught before the Rich Results Test does it.
- Writes JSON-LD, which is what Google recommends and the only form that needs no changes to the page body.
- Catches the classic price mistake — a currency symbol in a field that must be a bare number.
- Runs locally, so unreleased product details stay in the browser.
Limits
- It writes markup; it cannot check that the page beneath it says the same thing, and mismatched markup is a policy violation.
- Rich results are never guaranteed: correct markup makes a page eligible, and nothing more.
- Six types is not all of schema.org — events, recipes, courses and job postings each have their own requirements.
- Requirements change: Google removed FAQ and How-to rich results for most sites in 2023, and the markup remains valid but shows less.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the block go?
In the head of the page, or anywhere in the body — Google reads it either way. One script tag per block, and several blocks on a page are fine.
Will this guarantee a rich result?
No. It makes the page eligible. Whether the result is shown depends on the query, the page's quality and the engine's own judgement.
Do the values have to appear on the page?
Yes. Marking up content a visitor cannot see is against Google's structured data policies and can earn a manual action.
JSON-LD, microdata or RDFa?
JSON-LD. It is the format Google recommends, it sits in one place, and it does not entangle your markup with your data.
