Fake Data Generator

Synthetic people and companies as JSON, CSV or SQL. Free, and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or sent to a server.

About Fake Data

Synthetic people, contacts and companies with coherent fields — names, matching email addresses, job titles, addresses whose city and country agree, phone numbers, IPs and creation timestamps — exported as JSON, CSV or SQL INSERT statements.

The point is to keep real customer data out of development databases, screenshots and bug reports. Synthetic records give you realistic shapes to test with, without the consequences of copying production data somewhere it should not be.

Where it helps

  • Fields are internally consistent: the email matches the name, the country matches the city.
  • Three output formats, including SQL inserts with a table name you choose.
  • Up to 500 records per run for seeding a development database.
  • Generated locally, so nothing is fetched from a data service.

Limits

  • Names and places come from a fixed pool, so large batches repeat.
  • The bias is Western and Latin-script; it will not exercise CJK or right-to-left rendering.
  • Values are plausible but not valid: phone numbers, postcodes and IPs will fail real validation.
  • SQL output escapes quotes but is not a substitute for parameterised statements in application code.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real people?

No. Names are drawn from a fixed list and combined at random; email domains are the reserved example.* names that cannot receive mail.

Can I use this to seed a staging database?

Yes — that is the intended use. Choose SQL output, set the table name, and check the column names line up with your schema.

Will the phone numbers and postcodes validate?

Not reliably. They follow the right shape but are not real, so strict validators will reject some.

Why do names repeat in a large batch?

The pools are deliberately small and readable. For hundreds of unique records, add a suffix or generate in several passes.
