PDF Page Size Checker
Measure every page, its rotation and its sheet. Free, and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or sent to a server.
About Page Dimensions
Measures every page: the sheet it is drawn on, the sheet it is *displayed* as, whether part of it is hidden behind a crop box, and which named paper size it corresponds to. It changes nothing — this is the report you read before deciding what to change.
Three different rectangles can all be called "the page size", and confusing them is behind most printing surprises. The media box is the sheet. The crop box is the part a reader shows, which can be smaller. And a page can carry a rotation of 90 or 270 degrees, which swaps width for height at display time without altering either box. A page reported as 595 × 842 with a 90° rotation prints landscape, and nothing about its stored size says so.
The summary row that matters most is the count of distinct sizes. A document that prints with wandering margins almost always has two or three, usually because it was assembled from several sources — and the Fix Page Size tool is the answer to that.
Where it helps
- Separates the sheet, the crop box and the rotation, which are three different answers to "how big is this page".
- Names the standard paper size where there is one, with a tolerance for exports that round differently.
- Counts the distinct sizes in the document, which is the number behind most printing complaints.
- Millimetres, inches or points, whichever the conversation is being had in.
- Changes nothing — it is a measurement, not an edit.
- The document stays in your browser.
Limits
- Reports the first 500 pages in the table; the summary counts them all.
- Bleed and trim boxes are not reported, only the media and crop boxes.
- It measures pages, not content: a page with a huge white margin measures as its full sheet.
- Named sizes are matched within a couple of points, so a deliberately unusual size close to A4 will be reported as A4.
- Password-protected files must be unlocked first.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the media box and the crop box?
The media box is the physical sheet the page is defined on; the crop box is the part a reader displays. Cropping a PDF changes the second and leaves the first, which is why cropped content is hidden rather than deleted.
Why does a page's size not match how it looks?
Rotation. A page stored as 595 × 842 with a 90° rotation is displayed 842 × 595. The stored size is what most tools report, and the displayed size is what comes out of the printer.
How many points is A4?
595.28 × 841.89, because a point is 1/72 inch and A4 is 210 × 297 mm. Letter is exactly 612 × 792, being 8.5 × 11 inches.
My document has three different sizes — what now?
Fix Page Size redraws every page onto one sheet, which is what makes the document print consistently.
