Word to PDF Converter

Turn a .docx document into a PDF that looks the way it does in Word. Free, and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded or stored.

About Word to PDF

Sets a .docx document's text onto PDF pages: its paragraphs, its heading levels and its line breaks, cleanly typeset in Helvetica on A4 or US Letter.

This is not a render of your document, and it is worth being plain about that. Reproducing how Word lays a page out means implementing Word's line breaking, its font substitution, its tables, its floating objects and its section rules — which is a project, not a converter. What this does is carry the content across reliably.

So: right for getting words into a PDF that anyone can open, wrong for producing a copy that has to look identical. For that, print to PDF from Word itself, which is free and exact.

Where it helps

  • Paragraphs and heading levels are carried across, so the PDF has structure.
  • A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape.
  • The document is never uploaded, unlike every online .docx converter.
  • The result is previewed, so what you get is what you saw.

Limits

  • It is not a faithful render: fonts, images, tables, columns, headers, footers and hand-placed objects are not reproduced.
  • Bold and italic within a paragraph are not carried across.
  • Only .docx and .docm are read; the old .doc format is a different thing entirely.
  • Password-protected documents must be unlocked first with the Office Password Remover.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it not look like my Word document?

Because it is a typesetter, not a renderer. Matching Word's layout means reimplementing Word. If the appearance matters, print to PDF from Word — this is for getting the content into a PDF without uploading the file.

Are images included?

No. Text, paragraphs and headings are carried across; pictures, tables and drawings are not.

Can it read a .doc file?

No. The Office 97-2003 formats are a completely different container. Open it and save it as .docx first.

Is my document uploaded?

No. It is unzipped, read and set onto pages entirely in this tab.
