About Rearrange PDF Pages

Puts a PDF's pages in a different order. Write the order you want — 3, 1, 2, 4-8 — or take one of the two orders people actually need: everything reversed, or all the odd pages followed by all the even ones.

That last one exists for a specific and very common mess. A document fed through a single-sided scanner twice comes out as all the fronts and then all the backs; putting it right by hand is miserable, and naming the halves is one click here.

A page named twice appears twice, and a page you leave out is dropped — so this also duplicates and trims, if that is what you meant. Anything left out is called out in the result rather than silently lost.

Where it helps

  • Any order can be written directly, including duplicating a page by naming it twice.
  • Reversing and interleaving the odd and even halves of a scan are one choice each.
  • Pages keep their text and images; only their order changes.
  • The result names anything you left out, so a page cannot vanish quietly.

Limits

  • There is no drag-and-drop thumbnail view yet; the order is written rather than dragged.
  • Bookmarks and links pointing at page numbers are not renumbered to follow.
  • Password-protected files must be unlocked first.
  • Pages you do not name are dropped, which is deliberate but easy to do by accident.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write the new order?

As a list: "3, 1, 2, 4-8" puts page three first, then one and two, then the rest in order. Ranges can count downwards too, so "8-4" reverses that stretch.

What does odd-then-even do?

It puts every odd page first and every even page after, which is exactly what you need when a double-sided document was scanned as two separate passes.

Can I duplicate a page?

Yes. Name it twice and it appears twice.

What happens to pages I do not name?

They are not in the result, and the details say which ones they were so you can add them and run it again.
