Resize PDF to Letter

Put every page of a PDF onto a US Letter sheet. Free, and runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, stored or sent to a server.

About Fix Page Size

Redraws every page onto one sheet size. A document assembled from several sources routinely has three or four page sizes in it — an A4 report, a Letter appendix, a scanned form that came in at something else entirely — and it prints as a mess of different margins and unpredictable scaling.

Each page is embedded and drawn onto the new sheet rather than rendered, so nothing loses quality: text stays text and vectors stay vectors. Scaling to fit keeps everything on the page; centring at the original size never resizes anything, at the cost of clipping a page that was larger than the target.

Keeping landscape pages landscape is on by default and is usually what you want: a wide table shrunk onto a portrait sheet becomes unreadable, where the same table on a landscape sheet of the same family stays full size.

Where it helps

  • One uniform sheet from a document that arrived with several, which is what makes it print predictably.
  • Content is embedded rather than rasterised, so nothing loses quality.
  • Landscape pages can stay landscape rather than being shrunk into portrait.
  • A margin, for binding or for a document that has to sit inside a printer's unprintable edge.
  • Reports how many pages were actually scaled.
  • The document stays in your browser.

Limits

  • Scaling changes the physical size of the content, so a page that was measured at 1:1 no longer is.
  • Centring without scaling will clip a page that is larger than the target sheet.
  • Links, annotations and form fields are not carried onto the new pages.
  • Bookmarks survive but point at pages that have been rebuilt.
  • Password-protected files must be unlocked first.

Frequently asked questions

Will this lose quality?

No. Each page is embedded as page content and drawn at a scale — the same objects, in a different frame. It is the same mechanism as N-up, and text remains selectable and sharp at any size.

What does "keep landscape pages landscape" do?

It turns the target sheet for any page that is wider than it is tall, so a landscape table goes onto a landscape A4 rather than being shrunk to fit a portrait one. Switch it off if every sheet must be the same way round.

Why is my scale drawing now the wrong scale?

Scaling to fit changes the physical size of everything on the page. For anything measured — a plan, an engineering drawing — choose "centre it at its own size" and a sheet at least as large as the original.

Which size should I pick?

A4 outside North America, Letter inside it. "The largest page in the file" is the safe choice when nothing may be scaled down.
